Dragon Yunhe takes pride in our promises to Zhonglu. We prioritize service to the community above all else and have a profound respect for tradition. One specific project we are involved in is the ongoing restoration of Zhonglu’s ancient trail system. These trails have been a part of the community for centuries and have connected people and places in the village for generations. With the gradual introduction of urbanized lifestyle these trails have fallen into disrepair and are in danger of being forgotten. It has been a priority to restore these trails and their prominence as a hallmark of the everyday way-of-life in Zhonglu.
This last month we welcomed 31 students from YK Pao international school in Shanghai to participate in a service project to restore one of the village’s ancient trails. The students spent a total of three days working under the close supervision of local craftsmen to repair the trail. They were taught to use traditional building techniques that were environmentally friendly as opposed to concrete and mortar.
As a result of their hard work and dedication to service, these students accomplished their goal and restored a total of 109 steps. We are proud of their success and look forward to involving more like-minded institutions in our cause to foster tradition.
